The Library Technical Assistant is a highly specialized position that catalogs and maintains the database of library materials for the school district.
Library Media Services orders and processes approximately 15,000 to 20,000 items annually.
The technical assistant will support the library management system and electronic resources subscriptions.
General secretarial and organizational skills are necessary, as is knowledge of productivity software (i.
e.
Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Business Plus, PowerSchool).
Cataloging and Collection Management Perform original and copy cataloging for library materials across all elementary and secondary schools, adhering to established standards (AACR2, Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress Subject Headings).
Maintain accurate and consistent authority control records for all library media center holdings.
Collaborate with library media specialists to address specific building-level cataloging needs while ensuring district-wide consistency in the online catalog.
Serve as a liaison between the library and vendors for cataloging, purchasing, and shipping information and services.
Prioritize materials based on established criteria to meet user needs effectively.
Process materials for shelf-ready status and coordinate delivery to designated schools and departments.
Acquisitions, Purchasing, and Library Operations Manage the overall district library budget.
Oversee and manage district database and software renewal schedules.
Maintain clear communication with library media specialists regarding order status, account balances, and budgets to optimize resource utilization.
Manage the acquisitions process, from preparing orders to receipt of library materials.
Prepare and manage the issuance of library cards for elementary school students.
Maintain and replenish library supply inventories to ensure smooth operations.
Provide general administrative support to contribute to the efficient operation of the District Library Media Services Center.
Technology Support for Library Systems Troubleshoot and resolve user inquiries related to the implementation and functionality of the library management system.
Escalate unresolved technical issues to appropriate district technology personnel or software vendors for further assistance.

Qualifications:
Experience working with Destiny Follet Library Management System or other library management software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
